THE NEW ALBUM

The Sonic Rootz announce the release of their second studio album, “No Family Secrets” on vinyl and CD via Yes Music.

“No Family Secrets” features 10 original tracks and marks a pivotal step in the band’s artistic journey. The album was recorded in Italy at Super Sonic Studios, mixed in Los Angeles by Mike Tacci (Metallica, Whitesnake, Vasco Rossi, Van Halen) and produced by Guido and Diego Della Martora.

Many of the songs included on the album trace their origins back to 2021–2022, even before the release of the band’s debut album The Electric Babies Revolution. Ideas, melodies and early sketches from that period were not abandoned, but instead revisited, developed and completed alongside new material written specifically for this second record, resulting in a cohesive and deeply personal project.

The album’s production, which spanned nearly three years, followed the band’s natural growth, particularly that of frontman Diego. Over time, his voice underwent a significant evolution, leading the band to re-record several tracks originally sung in 2023 in order to maintain vocal consistency with the band’s current identity and sound. “No Family Secrets” was created without deadlines or compromises, in complete creative freedom.

The album title reflects the band’s identity: “We are not together because we are related, but because we grew up listening to the same music and sharing the same passion. There are no secrets or shortcuts, only real work, growth, and a genuine obsession with soul, blues and rock and roll.”

As Davide Della Martora (drums) explains: “The songs grew together with us. This album contains all the music we love, it’s very diverse: soul, blues and rock and roll, nothing was left out.

It’s fascinating for us to listen back to Diego’s voice when he was writing these songs at 11 or 12 years old, and then hear the same tracks today, after his voice change was completed. Diego is a complete and exceptional musician, he plays and arranges for all the instruments, a true phenomenon. This is also the first studio album in which Amanda plays bass in addition to singing backing vocals.

She had already played bass on our live album in Liverpool, but not on the debut record. She’s only 11 years old, but listen to how she plays, I absolutely love what she did on ‘Fire Me Up’ and ‘Feel This Magic’.”

Things you should know

The Sonic Rootz were born as a family band driven by a deep and genuine love for music.
The idea of recording their first album took shape in June 2020, when Diego wrote his first original song at just nine years old. That song, “Nothing to Lose”, later became part of the band’s debut album and marked the beginning of a journey rooted in passion, sacrifice and pure musical instinct.

Music has always been at the center of the Sonic Rootz household. Raised on rock, soul and blues spanning from the 1950s to the present day, the three siblings grew up discovering the timeless sounds of Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, alongside the energy of Bon Scott, Paul Rodgers, David Coverdale and the entire Beatles catalogue. Blues has always been the common language, with deep admiration for the great guitar storytellers: B.B. King, Freddie King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy and Muddy Waters.

Their debut album, “The Electric Babies Revolution”, marked a historic milestone: it officially crowned The Sonic Rootz as the youngest band ever to release a full album entirely composed of original songs. The achievement was recognized by major Italian media, including RAI Italian Television and Corriere della Sera, which celebrated the band’s extraordinary record-breaking debut in this article .

That first album captured a unique and unrepeatable moment: a raw, honest snapshot of who they were at that precise time. No compromises, no rules—just the joy of playing together and preserving the sound of a musical family.

Following the release of their debut record, The Sonic Rootz continued to grow both artistically and on stage.

In 2025, the band reached important milestones, performing live at the Palazzo Reale of Naples during the Campania Teatro Festival and sharing the stage in Milan as special guests supporting Blackberry Smoke at the Comfort Festival , confirming their credibility well beyond their young age.

Now, The Sonic Rootz are ready for the next chapter. Their second album, the result of three years of work, will feature 10 brand-new original songs written entirely by the band, further defining their identity and sound—firmly rooted in blues, rock and soul, yet more mature and conscious.

With new important live dates currently being scheduled for summer 2026, The Sonic Rootz continue their journey, carrying forward a clear mission: to keep real music alive, played with heart and absolute authenticity.
